Why do general contractors hire one subcontractor for framing and finishes?
Every additional subcontractor on a multifamily project is another contract, another schedule, and another phone call when something changes. QBC frames the building and comes back to install the doors, base, case, trim, cabinetry, and countertops, and we supply the lumber, trusses, panelized walls, cabinets, and stone behind that work. One dedicated project manager owns the schedule, the crews, and the answers. When something comes up, and something always comes up, you know who to call.
What goes wrong when framing and finishes are split across subcontractors?
Even a basic multifamily project is complex. When the framer, the trim carpenter, the cabinet installer, and the countertop fabricator are all from different companies, every communication has to travel through four sets of ears, at least. Every one of those is a chance for a mistake. Fewer handoffs protect your margin and reduce the risk of miscommunication.

What does QBC bring to a multifamily jobsite?
QBC has framed and finished wood-frame multifamily buildings in Wisconsin since 2008 and has been in business since 1998. Projects range from tenant improvements to 450-unit developments, and your dedicated project manager brings the support of that collective experience to your job site.
Our field crews are merit shop carpenters and installers who follow the plan and take ownership of their work. Many of our crews are bilingual in English and Spanish. Your site superintendent gets one foreman per scope and one PM over all of them.
We supply framing lumber, trusses, panelized wall systems, cabinetry, and granite and quartz countertops at volume pricing. Material pricing is clearly defined on every proposal. Transparency is one of our twelve core tenets, and truth in pricing is where it shows up.
Punch and closeout are run by the same PM who ran the job. Well before final walk throughs, our crews are communicating about items that need addressing. Accountability means we own the result through final closeout, not just through install.

Who is QBC LLC?
QBC LLC is a merit shop multifamily subcontractor based in DeForest, Wisconsin. We self-perform framing, finish carpentry, cabinetry, and countertops, and sell the building materials behind them, with a 27,000 square foot fabrication shop at our homebase. Four friends founded QBC in 1998 as a custom home framing crew in Madison, Wisconsin. We moved into large multifamily work in 2008 and built our reputation one project at a time through hard work and honest communication. Today we handle everything from tenant improvements to $115M+ multifamily developments.

Unlike typical subcontractors, QBC provides both skilled installation crews and direct material supply for lumber, cabinetry, and countertops. This removes the handoffs between trades and provides you with better pricing through our supplier relationships. You get one point of contact for both labor and materials.

At QBC, finishes means interior finish carpentry: doors, base, case, trim, cabinetry, and countertops. It does not include drywall, paint, or flooring. Framing to finishes means we frame the building and return to install the interior finish carpentry, cabinets, and countertops.

Where does QBC build?
Our crews are based in DeForest, Wisconsin, and rarely travel more than 75 miles for labor. Dane County and the immediate surrounding counties are our core market, and we regularly take on projects across Greater Milwaukee. Our newest push is into the Fox Valley: Appleton, Neenah, Oshkosh, and Fond du Lac. For the right project, we cross the border into Northern Illinois.
